DAO Al Jomaih was established in 2012 to develop, operate and invest in two emergency power projects in Basra, Iraq. The total project cost was US$100 million.

The power offtake agreement was signed with the Basra government in 2012 and the first phase of the project comprising of 100 MW was brought online in early 2013. The second phase of an additional 150 MW was commissioned in June 2014.
